Exchange 2013/2016

Exchange emails comes with many advantages over traditional email accounts, the biggest difference is the ability to sync contacts and calenders between multiple devices and also offering 50 GB per mail box.

When you first obtain your Exchange service, you would need to configure the settings. If your domain is on the same OVH account, your domain would be validated automatically, if your domain is registered elsewhere, you would need to create an CNAME record within the DNS Zone of the domain. Domain validation can take up to 24 hours.

Once the domain has been set up, there is only 2 more task to complete. The first would be to set up the MX records, this is also done within the DNS Zone. The records are as follows:

Priority Host Name
1 mx0.mail.ovh.net
5 mx1.mail.ovh.net
50 mx2.mail.ovh.net
100 mx3.mail.ovh.net

The last task is to set up the SRV record, this record allows the auto discovery of email settings. It is particularly useful when you wish to configure multiple mail boxes. It would be set up as the following:

_autodiscover._tcp IN SRV 0 0 443 ex.mail.ovh.net

exchange_srv

Alternatively, you can manually input the settings into your email client. The server address would be: ex.mail.ovh.net. For webmail access, the link would be:

https://ex.mail.ovh.net

There is also a new exchange server for new accounts from June 2016 onwards:

https://ex2.mail.ovh.net

Another exchange server is available on:

https://ex3.mail.ovh.net
