The SRV record is used for the automatic configuration of email settings. This is useful when users are not aware of the mail server or if your rolling out new configurations over a large volume of users. Through the usage of an SRV record the settings are automatically filled out. Users would only need their email address and password. The settings for the SRV can be found at: Exchange Settings
We can verify the SRV record with the following command:
firstname.lastname@example.org:~# nslookup -type=SRV _autodiscover._tcp.mysuperweb.co.uk Server: 127.0.0.1 Address: 127.0.0.1#53 Non-authoritative answer: _autodiscover._tcp.mysuperweb.co.uk service = 0 0 443 ex.mail.ovh.net. Authoritative answers can be found from: mysuperweb.co.uk nameserver = ns106.ovh.net. mysuperweb.co.uk nameserver = dns106.ovh.net.
