CentOS basics

Here is some of the basics of an CentOS server:


httpd is the web server for Apache.

To enable the web server to start on reboot is sudo systemctl enable httpd.service

vi is the default text editor.

curlis used to download files such as curl -L -O https://example.com/readme.txt

Current timezone is found with ls -l /etc/localtime it is set with timedatectl set-timezone Europe/London.

Default PHP is set as php version 5.4 by default on CentOS 7.

Default database is mariaDB its version 5.5.

To find the version of CentOS your using its hostnamectl.
